Hey peeps! It’s Lauren from the New.Music.Live. team. Uh so… autoerotic means to stimulate oneself sexually and I guess you could make the analogy that Toronto’s DJ duo AutoErotique are the music equivalent of a really amazing climax. Ya I said it. If you want to know what I’m talking about just listen to their latest (original) track “Turn Up The Volume”. It also just happens to have an equally appropriate video concept that has spread virally quicker than a slow mo cake explosion. It must have been thrilling for the dudes and the directors to see CBS News take interest in their “erotic” video.
If you’re a hardcore EDM fan than you already know AutoErotique used to be called VND/LSM – got all that? But once Keith Lite and Diet Dave started to go global an Australian band forced them to change it. Anyway, all for the better because now AutoErotique are signed to Dim Mak, the legendary Steve Aoki’s label which is the perfect home. Basically these guys have some kind of magic powers because they can take the most basic of pop songs and remix them into something other-wordly. It’s their reworking of Rihanna’s “Umbrella” that broke them out of the Toronto scene when DJ Diplo included it in a Pitchfork Mix, but it’s their originals like “Gladiator” and “Bubonic” that will ensure they take over the world. Watch AutoErotique perform today on New.Music.Live. at 5PM ET.
