Jay-Z and Kanye Take You To LA & Beyond In “Paris” Video

Posted on February 9th, 2012

My boys are back. It feels like forever since Jay-Z and Kanye West dropped “Otis,” the first video from their classic Watch The Throne album and we’ve been waiting patiently for their follow-up “N***as in Paris,” you know, just the greatest song of our generation. The highly anticipated video dropped this morning to mixed reviews. Some people were disappointed the clip relies heavily on concert footage from their WTT show at the Staples Center in L.A. Well, “some people” can suck it.

If you know me at all, you know I would never say anything negative about Kanye and Jay. I even defended Yeezy through Swiftgate. So yes, I am biased but I still think—biases aside—that I’m right in my admiration of the video. I freaking love it. Not just because the song is still so great, even after a million listens (number not approximate), but because the Watch The Throne tour was a magical piece of hip-hop history that shouldn’t be reserved for the few thousand fortunate fans who could afford the expensive tickets. The most epic part of the tour was when Kanye and Jay performed “Paris” over and over based on hype from fans. For the Staples Center show, the one in the video, Ye and Jay broke a tour record and performed the song ten times. TEN. That shit cray. Sorry, I couldn’t help it.

The amazing tour footage mixed with the highly stylized split screen reflections/ half naked models provide something for everyone. I might not get the random lion roaring over a part of the song but hey, no one knows what it means… but it’s provocative. Sorry, I couldn’t help it again. Speaking of that famous line from the track, the video also features footage of Will Ferrell, the OG of that line, from Blades of Glory. See, something for everyone!

Alright, I’ll stop ranting. Check out the video below!
