Hey there! Liz here and seeing that I am PROUD to be a woman, I decided to put a list together of songs that remind me why it’s special to be women! HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY!!!!
Adele “Rolling in the Deep”
“I’m gonna be fine without you” yet her song “Someone Like You” is about bowing down and being open about your real, raw emotions on a break-up. It’s okay to be honest with yourself, especially when listening to Adele.
Beyonce “Run the World (Girls)”
The anthem for women around the world. Need I say more? For me, Beyonce reminds us women to be strong and powerful, to stand up for ourselves in work and life, and overcome life’s burdens with grace and fierceness. There are many songs by Beyonce that help speak for women.
Robyn “Dancing on My Own”
This song can turn my mood around in one second. The second I hear it, I want to clear the floor and dance on my own. Robyn makes it socially acceptable and cool to dance by yourself.
We as women are constantly battling ourselves to feel “pretty”, this song reminds us to look inside ourselves and find inner beauty first because THAT is the trick to happiness.
She has a million songs that speak out for women around the world (“So What,” “Stupid Girls,” “Don’t Let Me Get Me,” “Raise Your Glass”). Since the beginning Pink has challenged the “stereotypes” and misconceptions of being a woman.
Demi Lovato “Skyscraper”
Now its time to get to one of the bravest pop singers out there today. Starting in the industry at such a young age can take a toll on someone. The constant pressure to be perfect and to look a certain way brought Demi Lovato to battle with bulimia, self-harm and self-medicating with drugs and alcohol. After an intervention from her family and friends, Demi went into treatment. While there, she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and since then has been a HUGE role model to young girls today. Demi’s motto to her fans and for life is to STAY STRONG. We very proud of Demi’s journey and admire her courage to share her story.
Destiny’s Child “Independent Women”
Charlie’s Angels anyone?!
Christina Aguilera “Beautiful”
BEAUTIFUL song, no pun intended.
R. Kelly “A Woman’s Threat”
Speaking for a woman… and it’s R. Kelly.
Maxwell “This Woman’s Work”
SEXY times. This song is the sexiest song and the original is done by one of the most iconic female artists, Kate Bush. From the Love and Basketball soundtrack – NBD!
Ne-Yo “Miss Independent”
Because this song is beautiful. This is the first song that made me fall in love with Ne-Yo’s voice.
Gwen Stefani “Hollaback Girl”
Gwen is my ultimate woman! I love her and she has inspired me throughout the years.
Keri Hilson “Pretty Girl Rock”
I LOVE this song just as much as I did when it first came out. #Confidence
