Lunchtime Listening With Jessica

Posted on December 19th, 2011

This morning the New.Music.Live. team all got together as a little work family and decorated the studio. Of course this got us thinking about our favourite holiday songs and I have to say one of my favourites is a newby. Kanye West released “Christmas In Harlem” as part of his G.O.O.D. Friday series last year leading up to the release of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. The song is chock full of cameos. He’s got Pusha-T, Big Sean, CyHi Da Prince, Musiq Soulchild, Jim Jones, Cam’ron, Vado and Teyana Taylor. Phew! That is one Christmas crew.

What makes this song awesome is the fact that it is one of those rare all year round Christmas songs. I can listen to it in the heat of summer and it wouldn’t feel out of place. The Christmas references are smart, not corny and even funny. Plus, Teyana Taylor’s sweet hook makes me feel all happy and cozy.

My new goal for the holidays is to call everything Dee-ricious. Check out the song below.
