There seems to be nothing that Sky Ferreira can’t do: She sings, she writes, she models, she acts. But at the moment, nothing is hotter than her music. After signing with Parlophone when she was 17, Sky released a couple of singles and 2011 As If! EP that failed to take off. And then last year she released the sultry yet poignant single “Everything Is Embarrassing,” a collaboration with Dev Hynes, aka Blood Orange, who’s written songs for Florence + The Machine, Theophilus London and Solange. The song took off and made Sky an instant star with indie music blogs, and even won the honours of being hailed “Song of the Year” by New York Magazine. Sky will co-headline a North American tour with How To Dress Well this month, which will be followed by the release of her long-awaited debut album, I’m Not Alright, in April. And be sure to keep an eye out for her first feature film starring role in Eli Roth’s The Green Inferno, where she plays a student activist taken hostage by a cannibal tribe in the Amazon.
