Princes of Our Playlist: Imagine Dragons

Posted on February 27th, 2013

Ahh, we’ve hit Wednesday a.k.a. hump day and what better way to get through the middle of the week than hearing a fresh new band with fresh new music? That’s right, nothing.

This week, the princes of our playlist are Imagine Dragons.

The band name is an anagram, that only the members know the real meaning of. But if there’s one thing that listeners know, it’s that these dudes are pretty spectacular. Wayne, Ben and the two Dan’s stem from Las Vegas, Nevada, a city which you don’t normally associate with indie rock. Since they traded university hallways for recording studios in 2008, the four-piece have been on everyone’s radar, including ours. Last year, Billboard named them one of the “Brightest Stars 0f 2012″. Amazon also dubbed them their “Favourite Rock Artist of 2012″, when their first full-length  Night Visions, got rave reviews.

We can’t get enough of their hit single “It’s Time,” which can be heard in films like Perks of Being a Wallflower and The Host. Other songs like “Demons” and “Radioactive” are very radio-friendly and very reminiscent of early Coldplay.

Imagine Dragons are currently on tour in North America and fortunately for them (unfortunately for us) all shows are listed as sold out. With A+ music reviews, sold out shows and a ton of television play, Imagine Dragons will continue to dominate playlists in 2013. You can buy Night Visions on iTunes right now.
