Howdy everyone. It is Jessica from the New.Music.Live. team. Taylor Swift’s new video for “Back To December” has hit the web and although the song is pretty revealing, the video doesn’t quite shed any more light on the true subject of the story.
The song supposedly is about Taylor Lautner. Unlike Justin Timberlake’s “Cry Me A River,” about Britney Spears, T-Swift didn’t cast an obvious former lover look-a-like as the lead in the video. The, might I say waaaaay cuter than Taylor Lautner, boy in the video has longish hair, pale skin and dresses noticeably different than her wolf-man. But, Taylor gives away the secret of the song with the lyric, “I miss your tan skin, your sweet smile.” You gotta give it to Lautner. He has both of those. Check out a good break down of Lautner’s relationship to the song here.
For everyone who beats up on this country beauty for making the a-hole moves of her ex-bf’s public, this songs is a refreshing admittance of her own mistakes and regrets. As a beautiful, cool and popular young woman she can’t always be the one getting her heart-broken. “Whether good or bad, or an apology, the person I wrote this song about deserves this. This is about a person who was incredible to me, just perfect to me in our relationship, and I was really careless with him,” she told Comcast.
The video is beautiful and shot in the light tones that Taylor Swift always looks glowing in. The wintery clip is perfect for this time of year. The world outside our window at Much headquarters looks a lot like the climate inside T-Swifts room. Oh yeah, and to the boy in the video, put the note back in your pocket and drive north to Canada. I’ll be waiting.
